My "new" dining area

I have finally find the money and inspiration to renew the dining area in my living room. I have a dream to live in a large warehouse appartment with a large and open living space and large windows with a great view of NYC. Since I dont live in the States this dream will always stay a dream, but this dream have given me the inspiration to how I have decoratet my dining room area. I already have a red brickstone wall that I have painted white and now I have bought a sideboard that gives the room an industrial look. I also have  made a dining room table out of different parts from Ikea. The table is work under progress, but it looks like the main idea I have and will work great until I find the right furniture that fits and that I can afford to.

I like that this sideboard works like a show case for my favorite books and things.

I needed more chairs, and ended up buying these stools that are ease to stack and take very little space. I like the industrial look they give and they also give some roughness to the room .

NYC has a special place in my heart and my Aunt took me to my first Broadway musical when I was 10 and came to NYC for the first time on my own. I have seen a lot of musicals and I have saved all of the playbills.

Incoperated in the new look I have two of this great green chairs that are almost a hundred years old. My Grandfather, The Dentist had these chairs in his waiting room at his practice. I never met my Grand Father, so these are kind of special to me.

Breakfast in Boston - St Thomas English Muffins.

Since I was 10 years old I have come to The States to visit my Aunt and one of the first of my American breakfast was St Thomas Englihs muffins. So as I like traditions , St Thomas English muffins are a must.
I used to have cream cheese and grape jam, but after I got diagnosed I have to settle for jam, this time apricot jam.
To make it a perfect breakfast I have to have OJ, tea and some fruit (this is more of an adult thing, not so much when I was 10.)

Two great ways to spend Friday Night

The fall has come and it has rained a lot, but I would like to give a praise to the nice weather we have had that everyone seems to forget  every time it rains. I work at a daycare center and get to enjoy the good weather as I do get to experience the ugly weather when it is cold, windy and rainy outside and the kids have to go out and play, but I would like to remember and praise all the nice weather alsoThree weeks ago I left work early and the weather was great, so I desided to make the one houre drive to my Mums house in the country side and enjoy the beautiful Fall weather. When I got there we sat outside in the sun and ate dinnner before we went for a lovely walk that gave us so much energy and happy feelings inside. When we got back I had a nice glass of Rosé watching the sun set before I went inside, baked a apple cake and fired up in the lovely fireplace from 1952.

I went to bed that night feeling happy inside. Days like these makes it so much easier to accept that the Summer is over and makes the transition to nice Fall evenings inside with the fireplace burning with a good book sitting under the blanket and maybe enjoying a nice hot and spiced up apple cider. I will chare this recepie with you later this Fall.

The weather was as lovely as three weeks ago agian this Friday and I left work early again and headed out for my Mums place in the country side. I had planed to have a nice long walk with my Mum before going to my friend Lindas house to do some scrapping. Unfortuneatly I fell last Friday and hurt my foot real bad and was not able to go for a walk. We tried to, but had to turne after 100 meters because my foot hurt to much. So we had a nice dinner outside in the sun. After dinner I grabbed a big bag of candy and headed out for Lindas house. We ended up having candy, beer, soda and listening to Swedish folk songs while scrapping. I made a wonderfull birtday card for my Mum who turnes 60 in a couple of weeks.
It was a nice way to spend a Friday in the Fall of 2011.

Above, candy, beer and the card early on....

Below is the result of this cozy Friday night!

A Magical weekend on the Mountains

  The view

This weekend I borrowed a cabin on the
Mountains of Sjusjøen, my friend and I drove up in Friday afternoon after work, stopped for some groceries were we totally fell in love in the local dialect, I am sure I could marry a farmerboy from that part of the country only because of the dialect. After a few wrong turnes we found our way to the cabin. It has been 9 years since I last visited the cabin, but I still remembered the great view. I had been bragging about this breathtaking view to my friend, so I was so pleased that the weather was good and that we could see for miles. When we woke up the next morning the fog was so thick and low that we barely saw the three tops 20 meter from the cabin. So when the weather was not treating us good we drove 30 minutes down to Lillehammer to do some shopping and when we got back home we made up a fire in the fireplace and popped a botle of sparkling wine and made a lot of great food.
On Sunday before driving back home we went for a little walk around the cabin and I would love to show you the magical and fairylike  feeling we got with the fogg and the low threes on the mountain.

Can you see the alves dancing...

A Lady on a road trip who don't mind getting her hands dirty!

As a result of that my car is getting older and I don't feel like paying more to get a reparation that cost more than my car is worth I have to check the motor oil regulary.

Here is me out side of Hamlets Castle checking the level of motor oil on my beloved Toyota who brought us safe and sound around in Denmark and back home to Norway this Summer.

Have a look at Kronborg Castle in the back ground.

A treasure for the Autum and Winter season found at Hamlet's Castle!

On my roadtrip to Denmark this Summer we stopped by Kronborg Slot (Castle) in Helsingør, the town and castle is best know for its legendary hero Hamlet, Shakespear's not-quite-fictious Prince of Denmark.

In the gift store I found this wonderful  Crown shaped candle stick and it was cheap to. If I would have bought this in an interior store home i Norway it would have cost me more than three times the price I gave for it in Denmark. I have also bought a couple of Christmas presents here.....

I am so happy about this royal buy.

This is the modern B, but I am dreaming about walking around in this courtyard with a large
renaissance dress and a hot night or a charming prince courting me.

Summer time and fun memories with Bertil The Goat.

This week I have been commuting between work and my friend Lindas house were I have been cat sitting for the beaiutiful Thomas the Cat. On my way home from work on Tuesday I met some of my friends Karianne, her son Lavrans and Anne. Lavrans is 5 years old and wanted to meet Anne's goat Bertil so we drove further out in the country side (Søndre Høland) to visit Bertil the Goat. Here we had a fun little photo shoot with Karianne's IPhone and and Bertil the Goat.
Here are some of the photos;

Bertil the Goat is getting to know me and to see if I am trust worthy.

I guess I passed his tests.

Bertil the Goat is nipping and liking me in my neck. It kind of tickled. This is not something I am used  to every day.
